About Us

The idea for Next Generation Brains came about when Anne Jones stumbled across some of the National Institute for Mental Health's brain research into child brain development. It explained why she has been terribly disorganised when she was at school. She admits she was dreadful.

"Once you know what the cause of the problem is then it is possible to do something about it," she says. "This information can help schools, parents and youngsters."

Anne set about creating training materials. By talking to children, parents and teachers, she says that she has come to realise that to make a real difference for youngsters, everyone has to be involved. It is a change management process.

"We came up with the Next Generation Brains concept for the training materials because we thought that no self-respecting space explorer would let so many young members of the crew drift along in such a disorganised way."

Fortunately, Anne has had a lot of help in getting Next Generation Brains off the ground. Artist Alison J. Best helped with illustrations, Don H. Williams with publishing expertise, Alex Best with research and John Williams with photography.

The Next Generation Brains web site is here to provide information and to share tips, advice and success stories about helping children learn how to be organised.
